My favorite memory of Uncle Vernie happened in Trenton, NJ on Thanksgiving of 1954. It was the first time my parents gathered the family together in our new house for a holiday. As usual, after dinner, the kids got together to play ball. Most of the time, Uncle Vernie was willing to watch us play and give us advice. On this particular day, I went in the house to get him.
