Not sure what to say?

miss bunk back in1951 she was my eight grade teacher @ whig hill school her first year teaching , she even road my little motor bike, i was the class pres., we got along real well, i could see her being wonderful mother !!!

We always knew Mrs Gayle as “Bunkie”
My mom, Connie Miller ( passed in 2011 at 95) cherished her lifelong friendship with Bunkie, MaryJo Pritz and Vivian Hickey ( all from Rockford) They set an example for me and my sister, Mercedes Dewey of long, supporting, faithful and joyful female friendship at a time when womanhood was being redefined. They showed up for each other. They called each other the “YaYa’s”. Strong, smart and funny, they were forging the way for us daughters (and...

Bunkie and I met when we were part of a “ Light of the World” bible study group. We called ourselves “ the Free Spirits”! I had the privilege of picking her up for our meetings! She was a delight to talk with during our many trips to and from members homes. We rotated our homes for the meetings, and while most of us served snacks, we would arrive at Bunky’s very unique home to find her big round table set for dinner!! Emily- you and Bunkie travelled quite a journey together. I’m so glad mom and I met you ladies to journey together for a little while. Mothers are such sweet friends. We watched over them pretty well I’d say. Prayers of Peace to you and your family. May joyous memories fill your heart.

Mrs Gayle was among my many mothers from a wonderful neighborhood. She was always busy and always happy. I remember her for her granola which she made, Spanish lessons in her backyard, her ability to remain calm amongst a pack of chaotic neighbor kids pouring through the house at all hours, her love of plants both indoors and out, Crabapple hearts, and her clever wit. She was part of my daily life for 20 plus years and I am better for it. Thank you Bunkie.
