TRAVERSE CITY — Veronica C. Muth, 86, of Traverse City, formerly of Kingsley, died Thursday morning, Nov. 5, 2009, at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Born May 26, 1923, in Kingsley, she was the daughter of the late William and Nettie (Heibel) Ockert.
While living in Kingsley, Veronica was a longtime member of St. Mary's of Hannah Catholic Church; she also attended St. Francis Catholic Church.
Family life was very important to Ronnie, along with the values she attained growing up in a large close-knit family. It was those old fashioned values that spilled over to her own family.
Ronnie enjoyed cooking, dancing, country music, decorating and keeping up the house. She was also was an avid fan of her sons' and granddaughters' sporting events. Her two granddaughters were very special and she enjoyed doting on them all the time.
Ronnie will be fondly remembered for her love of life and her outgoing personality. Life truly was a gift, which she thoroughly relished.
She is survived by her loving family; son, David A. (Coletta) Taylor of Kingsley; two granddaughters, Jessica (Eric) Dear of Traverse City and Laura (Kreg) Taylor of Kingsley; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Alivia Dear, of Traverse City; siblings, Valita Boehnlein of Kingsley, Rose (Elmer) Schmuckal of Traverse City, Rita (Ray) Sedlacek of Kingsley, Teresa VanPelt of Traverse City and Alice (Allen) Cleland of Traverse City; sisters-in-law, Emma Ockert and Vivian Ockert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Veronica was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard "Buck" Taylor and her second husband, Albert E. Muth; sons, Raymond Taylor and Everett D. Taylor; brothers, Claude, Edward and James Ockert; and brothers-in-law, Allen (Bud) Wright and Albert Boehnlein.
Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Mary's of Hannah Catholic Church on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. The Rev. Michael P. Connor is serving as the celebrant. Graveside services, followed by burial, will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Kingsley, on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
In remembrance of Ronnie, memorial contributions may be directed to Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation. Envelopes may be obtained either at the funeral home or church.
