Mrs. Volz was not just "Mom" to her 4 beautiful children but to all the kids in the neighborhood. We were always welcome in the Volz' home at 601 Ashurst. Mr. Volz would be working on a car in the driveway and Mrs. Volz was in the kitchen. Such a happy home; my second home. I would run away when punished. My parents knew exactly where I was but Mrs. Volz would call them as any great parent would.
