Not sure what to say?

I remember our days of being a music major at Fisk University. As a freshman Vertrelle knew a lot of music theory and history more than the majority of us. I remember the chit rehearsals with the University Choir and especially being in the Jubilee Singers. We spent many days on buses traveling to many performances we were invited to . We had to spend many nights in the Music annex practicing for our voice lessons and theory assignments for the late Dr Bernard Hunter. She had a...

Vertrelle, I still remember and honor you my college Friend. Remember the v fun we had driving to my home town , Kingstree, South Carolina. You wanted to visit your relatives and I appreciated the company on the road. We took every opp to laugh. We are missing your beautiful voice but you are singing with the angels and for the King! Rest easy my friend. You belong to the ages. Wish I could remember where your relatives lived in Nesmith again.

Mrs. Mickens was my very first voice teacher at Kentucky State University. She brought my inner "Diva" to an entirely different level at a very young age. I am heartbroken to find out about her passing, I had no idea until today. I am eternally grateful to have known this incredible person and world renown "Diva" and she will be forever in my heart. Rest Well.

When Vertrelle was at Fisk and I at Tennessee State University, we became friends. I'm proud to have known her and proud to know that she reached the remarkable heights she once only dreamed.

Just yesterday I learned of Vertrelle's untimely transition. Vertrelle was one of the first persons I met in the music department at Fisk. We became fast buddies and had great fun even a ride together to South Carolina to visit her residents near my home. Her talent and dedication were immense. May the family find solace in the fact that touched many all over the world.

Just this morning I decided to search for Vertrelle. I went to central high school with her. I remember her sister Gloria.
Vertrelle was a faithful friend with humor and so much more. I know your loss is great. Jeanne Aaron(Raymond).

Four great years of Singing with Vertrelle in the Fisk Jubilee Singers. I was just reading your many accomplishments this summer. May joy and peace dwell within your family for the gift you shared with so many. Kelvin and Cora Quince
