Not sure what to say?

We remember Vick with deep gratitude for his friendship, generosity, and humor. Always graciously willing to share his vast knowledge of forest ecology, birds, astronomy, electronics (and much more), our lives were enriched every time we saw or spoke with him. Our memories of good times with Vick and Jean will continue to bring smiles and laughter to our days.

My heart aches for the loss of Vick. He was the Lolo NF Forest Silviculturalist when I arrived in Seeley Lake in 1989. I learned curiosity and observation about all sorts of things from Vick. He was my idol, hero and mentor and I aspired to be half of all that he was. His contributions will be remembered for all time

Vick worked to hire me in a permanent position as forester at Lincoln RD He was a special mentor in all things wild We also met when he was providing ham radio support for us bike riders on TOSRV West, for many years Vick career intersected with mine in fire camps and on the Lolo NF He was a great forester and mentor

Vick and Jean were our neighbors, where we both fought swimming pools every spring and fall, opening and closing them. In the process we became very good friends. Vick was a very good man whose legacy of kindness and goodness will live on through family, Missoula citizens and friends like us. Our condolences go out to Jean, Rick and family. With love, Ted and Kate Delaney

When Susan and I set sail for a global circumnavigation, it was Vick who volunteered to keep us in touch with Susan's folks, George and Ramona Roedl in Missoula via a ham radio schedule. His services were invaluable and his kindness unparalleled. Met or always exceeded the "heck of a guy" standard. Condolences to his lovely wife Jean and family.
