COURTLAND TWP. — Vicki Lynn Steffens, 36, of Rockford, passed away suddenly Friday, Feb. 20, 2009.
Vicki was born Sept. 16, 1972, in Onaway, to Richard and Patsy (Moran) Kent. In 1990, she graduated from Traverse City High School. Vicki was pursuing a career in Medical Technology and finished at the top of her class in that program. She was passionate about being her own person and took pride in raising her children.
Vicki was a great mom. Her family and friends will remember her as a loving and caring person with a funny sense of humor and an adventurous spirit. Her special interests were dancing, listening to good rap and rock music, sledding, swimming, boating, playing softball, kayaking, mud bogs, and the simplest of pleasures such as enjoying television and reading magazines. Vicki loved hot and spicy foods, Chinese cuisine, ice cream and chocolate of any kind.
Vicki is survived by her children, Christopher Michael Steffens and Loryn Elizabeth Steffens; parents, Richard and Patsy Kent; brother Jason Kent (wife Jennifer and daughter Raegan); sister, Kandi Lannen (husband Josh and sons Kamerin and Ryan); special friend, Joel; and loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James and Muriel Kent; her maternal great-grandparents, Howard and Neva Klein; her maternal grandfather, Dayton P. Moran; her aunt, Sundae Kitzman; and her uncle, Daniel Moran.
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 24, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
Funeral services will take place at noon Wednesday, Feb. 25, with visitation one hour prior at Faith Reformed Church. Mr. Derrel Kent will officiate. Graveside committal services will be held in Oakwood Cemetery.
