Groton: Services for Vicki Strom, 52, of Groton will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Groton. Rev. Matt Richards will officiate.

Burial will follow in Groton Union Cemetery, under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Vicki passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Vicki Lynn was born Nov. 14, 1957, in Aberdeen to Casey and Dorothy (Olson) Clark. She was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Ipswich. Vicki graduated from Ipswich High School in 1976.

On Sept. 17, 1977, she united in marriage with Alan Strom in Aberdeen, and they made their home near Groton. Together, they had two sons, Nicholas and Jackson. Vicki enjoyed watching her two sons grow while helping Alan on the family farm.

Vicki became a member of the United Methodist Church in Groton and taught Sunday school there for 18 years. She was also active in the May Breakfast and had recently remodeled both the church library and chapel.

Vicki was a natural giver, caring for her family, church and community. When her children were in elementary school, she became involved in PAC and helped organize the first of many Holiday Home Tours.

Vicki enjoyed any time spent with family. She lived life to its fullest . . . she enjoyed traveling, reading, watching movies, fishing, and bird-watching, among other things. She was artistic and excelled at the arts, including sketching, clay modeling and painting with water, oils and chalk. Her creativity could be seen in her flower gardens, her home and in her work at Four Seasons Gift Shop. Her memory will forever be in our hearts.

Celebrating her life through memories is her husband, Alan; their sons: Nicholas and Jackson of Fargo, N.D.; her mother, Dorothy (Fritz) Fiala of Browns Valley, Minn.; mother-in-law, Doris Strom of Groton; and her siblings: Ginger (Joe) Kuschel of Browns Valley, Scott (Rhonda) Clark of Aberdeen, Colleen (Jeff) Schnaidt of Aberdeen and Julie (Steve) Schaller of Groton.

Preceding her in death was her father, Casey, and her father-in-law, Lloyd.

Honorary casketbearers will be all of Vicki's nieces and nephews.

Casketbearers will be David Dell, David Stahl, Barney Dombrowe, Jerry Johnson, Joe Kuschel, Riley Kuschel and Jerry Ray Johnson.

Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 906 N. First St., Groton, SD 57445.

I grew-up with Vicky and she was always a bright light and good freind all the way through high school. I didn't keep in touch which was my loss for she was a very great person.I'm deeply sadden to her of her passing. But know she is a bright light in Heaven.

I was so sorry to hear the news of Vicki's passing. I attended Ipswich High with her and noted how beautiful, vibrant and happy she was at our 20th reunion. My condolences to all.
