                                                                          Life and Legacy

                                                                “Vickie Johnson Chapman”

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith

                                                                     2 Timothy 4:7

Vickie Johnson Chapman, 64, of Clover, South Carolina passed away on March 24, 2022 at the home.  Vickie was born on August 14, 1957 to the late Charles Johnson and late Mattie Faye Wrath- Williams in Charlotte, North Carolina.  In her early years Vickie attended University Park Baptist Church

Vickie’s early years of school she attended Biddleville Elementary, Coulwood Jr High and Ransom Jr High.

After graduating from North Mecklenburg High School Class of 1975, she went on to study Accounting at Winston Salem State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. In the summer of 1976, Vickie met John Chapman and they married on January 29, 1982., at Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. From this union two children were born, she decided to dedicate her life to being a loving wife and mother.

Vickie had a desire to return to school and received a Master’s Degree in Library Science at University of North Carolina Greensboro.

Upon graduating she became employed with Mecklenburg County Public Library for 22 years as a librarian, many of those at the West Boulevard location.

Vickie excelled at propping up family and friends and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Whether that was helping Lauren with school and her grandchildren or helping library patrons, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others.

Vickie was a passionate seamstress, cook and a prolific reader. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found thrifting and traveling to her favorite places Park City, Utah or Kona, Hawaii. We will miss her greatly.

“Family Tree”

A limb has fallen from the family tree

I hear a voice that whispers, “ Grieve not me’

Remember the best times, the laughetr the songs

The good I lived while Iwas strong

Continue my heritage , I’m counting on you

Keep on smiling , the sun will shine through .

My mind is at ease , my soul is at rest

Remembering all… how I was truly blessed

Continue traditions, no matter how small

Go on with your lives, don’t stare at the wall.

I miss you all dearly so keep up your chin

Until that fine day we’re together again.

Was devastated to learn of Mrs Vickie’s passing for not just me but my family. I met her overt 10 years ago at the West Blvd library and we became instant friends. Was at the library and happened to see the memorial for her. I will miss her compassion, knowledge of everything thrifting(we enjoyed exchanging our funds there). and mostly her beautiful face. Glad I got to chance to tell her I love her. Hard pill to swallow but God knows what’s best for us. Rest well Vickie .

Another angel to watch over us. Rest in your new home. I have only good memories of the times I worked with you at the library. You were helpful to me as I was on loan from another branch, To the family may you all savior the memories of such a special person.

Sincere condolences to John, Jarrett and Lauren, and the grandchildren.

Walking into the West Blvd library yesterday, I thought of Vicki as I often do. We became friends connected in our love of our children, food, & books. My youngest with Down Syndrome often came with me. Vicki saw her grow up & always welcomed her as she was. Her kindness & acceptance touched my heart! I miss her & I know she is well now. Sending much love to her family.

Sorry for your loss. She was a sweet person.
