STEWART, Vickie - Of Mt. Morris Township, age 50, died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her family after a 14 year courageous battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held 1PM Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at St Pius X Catholic Church, G3139 Hogarth Ave., Flint, Father Robert F. Copeland, Monsignor Richard J. Groshek concelebrating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to Vickie's Garden. Visitation 1PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 6PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Stewart will be at the church 12 noon Wednesday until the time of the Mass. Vickie was born in Flint on September 28, 1958 and was a resident of the Flint area all of her life. On December 15, 1979, she married Bill Stewart. Vickie was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and worked for the school. Surviving are husband Bill; 3 children, Melinda and Fiancé DJ, Jennifer and husband Russell Young and William; 3 grandchildren, Brooke, Alexis and Baileigh; parents, Wesley and Verna O'Neil; 4 brothers, Terry and wife Marty O'Neil, Gerry and wife Kathy O'Neil, Allen and wife Denise O'Neil, Brian and wife Vicki O'Neil; several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her dog, Mocha. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark and daughter, Kimberly. Family extends a special thanks to the nurses on 9 East at Hurley, especially Michelle Sparks, Heartland Hospice and Angie and Barb at H-Care.
