I recall Vic's upbeat sense of humor, always in evidence at the 6:30 a.m. exercise class at the San Pedro YMCA. In the 1980's)
(On a rainy day, he opted to stay in bed, and "turn over on my left side" at the appointed time for the class.)
What a large, productive and happy life he had, Esther!
I send you and your family my very best.
Patty Hollister (now Simpson), of that Exercise Class.

Is this the Victor Abe who used to come to the New Year's Day party of James Shimpei Oda for decades? If so, Victor was always so enjoyable to be around. And he had the same last name as my married name. I have often wondered how he was doing, and I was saddened to run into this obituary while looking for another obituary. I hope the family is coping ok. May he rest in peace.

I remember Victor coming to Lafayette, Indiana in 1995 as a featured speaker, generously sharing about his MIS experience when the Asian American Network of Indiana hosted the Smithsonian exhibit A More Perfect Union. I also remember many good times with Victor and the Abe family in Indiana and California over the years; sometimes it was for holidays, but anytime we got together was a good time! My condolences to my dear friend Verna, Esther, Vicky, and the rest of the Abe family. With much...
