Victor Daniel Finch, adored son, husband, father and brother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at the age of 37. "Vic," as his family and friends, knew him, will be missed every day by his wife, Heather, and beautiful daughters, Rae (6) and Avery (1), as well as his parents, Ronnie and Nancy Finch and sisters, Amanda Broadfoot and Samantha Strickland. A lifelong resident of Chipley, Vic attended Kate Smith Elementary School, Roulhac Middle School and was a 1995 graduate of Chipley High School. He attended Chipola College and went on to Florida State University. He was a lifelong member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Chipley. Vic was gifted musician and talented creative writer. He was known for his beautiful voice, quick wit, generous heart, and most of all, his amazing, contagious smile. Vic battled metastatic melanoma for two years, and he publicly shared his journey – both the good and the bad – for the purpose of educating others about the severity of melanoma cancer. His complete story has been documented over the past two years at Facebook.com/VictorOverCancer. The Victor Over Cancer Foundation has been established in his honor, with the goal of promoting melanoma awareness and assisting local families struggling with the financial, emotional and bureaucratic burdens of cancer treatment.
Family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to remember Vic at a memorial service and celebration of his life on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m., at his home at 1334 Watford Circle in Chipley with a reception to follow. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to "Victor Over Cancer" (a 501c3 non-profit organization) at OneSouth Bank. Friends and family may sign the online Brown Funeral Home register at www.brownfh.net.
