Great surgeon, educator, person

I was head of tennis at a boy's camp in New Hampshire in 1973. Vic was the camp doctor for the summer. We would play singles 2--3 times per week. He never won, but every match was close and he was twice my age. A fine tennis player. A few years later, I was an intern in Long Island. I arranged to spend a week with him at Beth Israel as part of my training. The first morning, he performed a triple bypass in 57 minutes (!) while talking tennis with me the whole time. I have never seen a...

Victor was my friend and my mentor. He had practical and wise advice for whatever personal or professional problem I faced. He had an enormous impact on my career and in my involvement with NASPE. I will miss him but feel so lucky to have kn own him. When I last saw Victor, he said wanted to outlive Jimmy Carter. He did-just. Thank you for your friendship, Victor.

His kind guidance and forward thinking changed my life and career course. God bless you.

I am very sad to hear this news. I was privileged to work in the Pacemaker Center at the Beth for 7 years and that opportunity and Dr Parsonnet's mentorship changed my life. He was a man of many accomplishments but one of the greatest was his ability to connect with his patients on a such a personal and compassionate level. I will always remember him with the utmost respect and highest regard.

Lessons learned from Dr. Parsonnet have lasted a lifetime. It was a privilege to work with him and Jane! Thank you for everything!
