VICTORINA PEREZ VALLECILLO
Victorina (Vicky) Perez Vallecillo, age 97 of Mio, Michigan passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Vicky was born on March 12, 1927, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras to Amadeo Perez and Ester Vallecillo.
In 1948, Vicky married the love of her life Humberto Trejo and together they had 4 daughters. Vicky was a skilled shoemaker, a trade she learned from her father. She was also a talented seamstress able to copy any design featured in any catalog. With these skills, she was able to raise her family. During this time, Vicky also worked in the Chiquita banana plantations in Honduras picking bananas, sorting them, and packaging them for export to the United States.Â
Vicky immigrated to the U.S. in 1980 and had the opportunity to display her skills as a seamstress by customizing bespoke gentleman's suits at renowned couture/fine men's clothing store Roberts David Alan in Flint, Michigan. In 1989 she had the privilege of formerly becoming a naturalized US citizen.Â
One of Vicky's greatest joys was traveling and being able to visit her 4 children and countless grandchildren & great-grandchildren all over the US and Canada. Throughout her life, Vicky was known for having a sweet gentle spirit. Her strong faith in Jesus is a legacy she leaves for many generations to follow. Her testimony and example will be a beacon to all who loved her.Â
Surviving her are her three daughters, Eligia Herrera (Enrique) Olga Juarez, and Ada Podpora (Kevin). Vicky also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Isabel Rivera, her sister Reina Caliz, and her grandson Jonathan Podpora.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Lashley Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Vicky will also lie in state on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Mio Baptist Church, Mio, Michigan from 10 a.m. until the funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Samuel Placencio officiating. Interment will be at Big Creek Township Cemetery, Luzerne, Michigan.Â
