Happy Birthday Vida

Vida, I think of you so often. You are forever in my heart.

I had the pleasure of meeting Vida in 2004 when she still lived in Eastmoreland, in her home of 67 years. At that time she decided that she needed to move, as it became more and more difficult for her to deal with getting upstairs, and also downstairs to the basement. I then visited her at Russellville shortly after she moved there. I was always impressed with her energy and her zest for living, and in recent years was amazed, whenever I would Google her name, to read about her continuing...

I had the pleasure of visiting with Vida over the past 8 years in my previous work role. She was always a joy to visit and she would always cook me a lunch that featured grill cheese sandwiches! She was always one of my favorite donors to visit. I will miss you Vida! Bill

I met Vida at Oaks Park as we entered in the Floral and Garden Department at the Multnomah County Fair at least 15 years ago. She was very energetic, I had no idea that she was close to 90 years old at that time. She had mentioned that she had a son living near me and I invited her to come and visit my garden, to which she accepted and came by many times. Later, I would read about her in the Oregonian, still walking to Adventist Hospital to volunteer....at age 100! I also saw an article...
