Vincent James Ciano, of Westbury, New York, born on September 11, 1944 in Bronx, New York, to the late Irene E. Ciano (nee Duckett) and the late Thomas Maurice Ciano, passed away at age 74 on March 20, 2019 in Hampton Bays, New York. Vincent attended W. Tresper Clarke High School Class of 1962. He gave 33 years of service to the country as a member of the Army Infantry from 1964 to 1966 in the Vietnam War and later as a Senior Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard 106th Rescue Wing. He won seven military honors in his career, including the Combat Infantry Badge and was honored by the Suffolk County Legislature in tribute to his service and dedication to his community in 2017. Vincent was the loving husband of Margo Gelber Ciano. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Joseph Ciano, and sisters, Jeanne Ciano and Joellen Augusta Lamirande. Vincent is survived by his sons, Michael Ciano (Jennifer), Jonathan Ciano (Kristen), and Benjamin Ciano; sisters, Kathy Abrams (David) and Renee Magee (Owen); and grandchildren, Trey, Raegan, Charlotte, Zoe, and Max. Vinnie was generous with his time and gave of himself to his friends, family and fellow vets with PTSD sometimes just listening, other times talking them "off the ledge", because he had been there himself and was driven to "pay it back". He was a member of American Legion Riders Post 924. His many interests saw him through such diverse pursuits as following his passion for horses to become the president of The Lippett Club and serving his community as a 911 Dispatcher. Vinnie's lifelong passion for photography frequently found him outdoors capturing nature. The family invites donations in Vincent's name to Autism Speaks and Make-A-Wish. Friends and family members may attend the wake on Monday, March 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m and again from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Scott-Rothwell Funeral Home Inc, 20 Ponquogue Ave, Hampton Bays, New York, 11946. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 26 from 11:30 a.m. at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, New York, 11933.

Not sure what to say?

I was SMsgt Vinny Ciano's Commander when he retired in September 2004. He was a dedicated worker, always early for work and diligent in all he did. I am proud to have written up the citation for his USAF Meritorious Service Medal which is just one of the seven honors he received during his career. Sadly, I just learned of his passing. May he continue to rest in peace.

God Bless you...We all will miss you Vincent...

Our family tree has lost a branch. What can I say about my brother? I will miss his smile, laugh and sense of humor. An extremely talented photographer and even in death I am learning new things about him. He gave of himself any one and every one. I'm so very proud of him. The memories will keep us going until we are all together again. I will miss you until that time. I love you!

In loving memory of a wonderful person. You will be missed

We worked together for twenty years and made each other laugh even when we should have been crying.
We Loved the Camera and admired each others work even though vastly different our hearts were always behind the lens. We spent many hours together in the darkroom making images come to life. I will miss my Friend and his special sense of humor and wonderful laugh. I was honored to be his best man. Vinman enjoyed his work and was proud to be a service member. I salute you and will...

So sorry to hear of the passing of Vinnie, he was a great person and cousin, will miss seeing his pictures he took on Facebook, will miss you ❤

I love him with all my heart and will try my hardest to instill the life lessons and compassion he taught me to all my children and love ones. I'm gonna miss him so much but carry him in my heart for the time I'm here till I see him again in heaven. Thank you so much uncle vin i.e. For being you....
