Pittsburg Funeral Chapel - Pittsburg Obituary

Vincent “Vinny” Salvatore Di Maggio Jr. passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at home due to Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.  Vinny was born in Pittsburg, California on July 24, 1957.  Vinny attended high school at Pittsburg High graduating in 1975 and lettering in both football and baseball.  He attended college at California State University, Sacramento where he earned a B.S. in business marketing in 1980.  Vinny worked in sales for 32 years, retiring from Frito-Lay Inc. in 2011.

Vinny was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.

Vinny was a life-long resident of Pittsburg.  He loved duck hunting and following his favorite sports.  He had an amazing memory for sports statistics.  Vinny was happiest coaching and cheering on his own children in their endeavors whether it was football, swimming, or food plating.  Vinny was always happy to see you and never let you leave his home empty handed.  He was a great listener, had a zest for life and was the king of wisecracks.

Vinny is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Brenda and devoted children, Vincent III (Natalie and granddaughter Olivia) of Oakley, Dominica Marie (José) of Antioch, and Maryfrances (Alina) of Pittsburg.  He is also survived by his stepmother Peggy DiMaggio of Pittsburg, his siblings, Dennis (Sandra) of Connecticut, Denise (Joe) of Antioch, Sally of Elk Grove and Kitty (Anthony) of Oakley, his mother-in-law Jeanne Reilly of Pittsburg, siblings in law Mary of El Cajon, Ingrid of Sunnyvale, Rita (John) of Antioch, Joseph (Lacie) of Orangevale and Peggy (Niels) of Portland as well as many loving nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Alvaretta “Babe” DiMaggio, father, Vincent DiMaggio, father-in-law, John Reilly III and brother-in-law, John Reilly IV.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Friday, July 3, 2020 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with a funeral service at 2:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made in Vinny’s name to Lewy Body Dementia Association or Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Not sure what to say?

Vince is one of the good guys. He would always help people. He always treated people right. He was a kind and considerate person, a good man and a good friend. We worked together at Mark Stein and I have some fond memories. He’s having a great day in heaven. Sorry for the family’s loss.

Deepest Condolences
