Not sure what to say?

I have great memories of Mr. Dining when I was in my high school band in Austin 1960-63. He would judge district and regional contests (French horn). He was so encouraging and nice to be around. He also let me play in the UT summer band , although I went to Abilene Christian University during the long term. I will always remember him fondly. Just thought about him and read his obituary.

Never knew him personally but he was literally a towering figure at all football games and in University of Texas traditions and lore. He held a standard for the Longhorn Band and its place at UT. He was respected by all, but perhaps not more than by the band members whose life he impacted so graciously.

He is missed greatly.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know your eyes are always on TEXAS and the Longhorn Band!!!!! Thanks for all the great memories!!!!!!!!

Vince became a friend while I was working on my doctorate; I thoroughly enjoyed the Longhorn Band and the work he did. He was on my Dissertation Committee and instrumental in seeing me through. Thank you and I miss you.

Timothy. I am saddened to learn of the passing of Vince. I am drawn to remember all the great things Vince did for me and my family. I want to express my grateful thanks to you for your loving care of this great man. Patty and I send our deepest condolences. Bill Solberg, Los Angeles

With great sadness I found out yesterday that Mr. D had died last month. He had such a dynamic and enduring presence in the world, it never occurred to me that he wouldn't still be with us. I had the great privilege of working under Mr. D as secretary to the Longhorn Band between college careers (1973-75). Even though I was never a band member (singing instead in the chorus), he always made me feel that little Italian connection between us. Of all my nearly 25 years in the UT System,...

Dr. Vincent R. D'Nino: A man of excellence. A loss that cannot be replaced. A gift to all of us at THE university! He expected excellence of himself and inspired it in others. His graciousness and memory were legendary. He knew all of us by name--our families, our wives and children, and for some of us, our grandchildren.
His influence in our lives was almost unlimited. He was a tremendous teacher, mentor, and lifelong friend. He stayed connected to us for over fifty years--how amazing!...

Mr. D was more than a band director; he was a father figure, a mentor, an inspirer, a teacher, and a friend whose very presence brought out the best in his band students. Larger than life is how I would describe Mr. DiNino and his passing hurts greatly. You will be missed, Mr. D, not only by me, but by the thousands of lives you have influenced and touched. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Love always, Debbie Hoose Johnson
