George L Doherty Funeral Service, Inc - Somerville Obituary

Drago, Vincent A. - Of Somerville January 24, 2024.

Beloved husband of Josephine (Leone) Drago. Loving father of Vincent M. Drago and his wife Michèle Hansen of Somerville, Bruce J. Drago of Somerville, and David S. Drago of Medford.

Brother of Maryruth Trubiano, Diane Drago-Stack, and the late Darlene Filosi.

Dear Papa of Ryan, Sofia, Isabella, Melissa and Sara Drago.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Vincent was a lifelong Somerville resident and graduated from Somerville High School. He only had to travel across the street to meet the love of his life, Josephine, who he has been married to for 57 years. He worked as a mail sorter at American Railway Express and later as a tax examiner for the Department of Revenue for many years.

Vincent was inquisitive, funny, compelling, and set in his ways. He loved to get the last word. In his older years, Vincent publicly made his voice heard and advocated on behalf of his neighborhood when he felt let down by the local government.

On any given day, you could find Vincent enjoying songs by his favorite artists—which ranged from Elvis to Lady Gaga—quoting his favorite movies and television shows, indulging in “Reese’s cups,” writing poems for his grandchildren, and placing a few bets.

He loved dancing with his wife, preparing steamers for his family, making risky jokes, picking up his grandchildren from school, playing candlepin bowling, and being right.

To his last day, Vincent was unapologetically himself.

Funeral procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, Wednesday morning, January 31, 2024 at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Catherine Church, Somerville at 10:00am.

Relatives and friends invited. Calling hours Tuesday January 30th 4:00pm - 7:00pm. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Vincent's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Stjude.org.
