VINCENT D. MUNTZINGER

VINCENT D. MUNTZINGER, 96, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Born July 19, 1920, in Convoy, Ohio, he was the son of the late Arthur and Alma (Ohlen dorf) Munt zinger. Vincent graduated from Convoy High School and attended Purdue Tech School and International Business College. He worked for 45 years for Essex Wire and United Tech. He served 3 1/2 years in World War II as Master Sergeant Chief Check. He was awarded a Certificate of Merit for his service. After his military duty, he served as Treasurer of Indiana District of Walther League and a member of Avon Prayers Emmaus Church. Vincent was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church and its Men's Club. After retirement, he was an antique dealer and repaired and refinished furniture. He also enjoyed NASCAR. At 90 years old, he drove by himself, a NASCAR car at 104 mph. He volunteered at the Embassy, Community Harvest Food Bank, mentoring at the church Rescue Mission or Project Mercy. Vincent is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Helen (Schumm) Muntzinger; children, Mark (E. Doreen) Muntzinger of Fort Wayne, Eunice (Gary) Ream of Atlanta, Ga., and Tim Muntzinger of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Angie (Joe) Puthoff of Indianapolis, Blake Muntzinger of Phoenix, Ariz., Tom Ream of Atlanta, Ga., Logan Ream of San Diego, Calif., Laura Muntzinger of Fort Wayne, and Nathan Ream of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Eli and Tenley Puthoff. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46819). Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial to follow service at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46804).
