Vincent Palumbo Obituary

Vincent James Palumbo was born on September 10, 1918, in Fresno, California. He was the oldest of three children born to Frank and Elizabeth Palumbo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anne, his sister Marie and his brother Allen. Vince attended Fresno schools and graduated from Edison High School at the age of 16. Upon completing his tour of duty with the U.S. Army, he returned to Fresno and worked in home construction. He also helped his aunt with her nailing business. This experience motivated him to start his own box manufacturing business. Vince was active in managing Palumbo Box and Lumber for over 60 years. He continued to go to work every morning up until January when his ill health kept him home. Vince loved his job and the many friendships developed through his business. One of his great pleasures was the daily mornings with his countless coffee shop buddies and his Saturday lunches at Georges. Vince was an avid card player and he especially enjoyed Pinochle and Texas Hold'em. Vince was fun, upbeat, and always ready with a great story or joke to tell. He was such a positive influence on many and was always ready for a good time. Vincent is survived by his loving daughter Janice; his grandson, Matthew Tanney; and his stepdaughter, Kim Sanders. He was loved and will be missed by many. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Sunday, February 10, 2008, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. A Recitation of the Rosary will follow at St. Paul Newman Center at 4:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery on Monday, February 11, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Paul Newman Center on Monday, February 11, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Make a Wish Foundation at 83 E. Shaw, Suite 202, Fresno, Ca. 93710 or the St. Paul Newman Center, 1572 E. Barstow, Fresno, Ca. 93710. WHITEHURST Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home 1525 E. Saginaw Way Fresno, Ca. (559) 227-4048

Dear Janice: I know there are few words that can change the way you are feeling right now, but to hear from friends and family at times like this can sure help a little to sooth the soul, In the few times I had the pleasure to spend
time with you and your dad I could see what great man he really was, always seemed content no matter what he was doing or where he was at, I know he was a great father and grandfather figure to you and Matthew and will be missed everyday. stay strong, take some time after things settle down and come up and stay with us for a while, if there is anything I can do for you just let me or Kathy know, Take care, my deepest condolences.
