Vincent Joseph Samar

Vince, it seems impossible that we're coming up on a year since you passed. It feels like it was just a month ago we exchanged an email or message. I think of you often. You were one of the best friends I ever had, and I'm glad our paths crossed. I love you and miss you.

My condolences to the Samar family. We were fraternity brothers at Syracuse University. Vince was erudite and was an expert ballroom dancer. Always upbeat and willing to lend an ear. He left the world too soon, but accomplished much. Here to kai phi kai.

Prof. Samar was my Ethics Professor at Loyola. Super awesome and very passionate about his work. Was very sad to hear of his passing.

I had Dr. Samar my freshman year at Loyola (I am now a current Junior) and have reflected on my time with him. He was a pronounced and gripping Professor who knew our texts front to back. He inspired and certainly challenged me in the classroom. Dr. Samar gave me the most difficult course I have so far taken at Loyola, and challenged what I knew about ethics; subsequently it was also the course I have learned most in and grown from. Vince was an encouraging teacher, a consummate professional, and always a warm, friendly spirit. He carved out for himself an academic niche that lasted decades. May he rest in peace and love.
