Not sure what to say?

To the Vicari family. Vinnie first called me as an advocate for the West Point aspirations of a young woman with incredible potential. Today that young lady is a West Point graduate and Field Artillery officer. I have no doubts that he was an inspiration to her, just as he was an inspiration to me. I will never forget his words of wisdom about the military, life, and most importantly family. Whenever, I would get caught up in my problems--Vinnie would always remind me about the...

I first met Vinnie in 2001 at the Fayetteville NC airport where I assisted him with his bag. I noticed his 101st lapel pin and he noticed my 101st combat patch. It was an instant friendship. We talked for quite some time and we then parted ways but not before he gave me small gift which I cherish to this day. five years later when I was in the Charlotte airport I happened to notice him waiting for a plane and when I went over to him I began with, "Sir you probably don't remember me but"...

Vinnie was a Screaming Eagle that made all of us who served after him very proud of our heritage in the 101st Airborne Division. He was a gentleman and a stirring example of selfless service. His impact on all who were blessed to have known him will remain his legacy. I will miss him until our next Rendezvous with Destiny!! God Bless Vinnie, and may our memories of him continue to stir us to greater service of our nation, our families, and our country.

Vinnie was a first-class gentleman. I corresponded with him over maybe a three year period and we had several lengthy phone conversations about his youth and service in the 101st during the war. He loved talking about his experiences over the phone and I enjoyed every minute of our conversations. He talked about how he missed his late wife. He was proud of his service and spoke fondly of General Mac. He had good perspective and always tried to look on the bright side of things. His...

To the Vacari Family - Vinnie was a friend to many, we always enjoyed spending time and talking with him at the 101st Reunions. Thanks for sharing him with us, he was a great man, a fellow eagle, and he won't soon be forgotten!

Lest we Forget !
A salute from Amsterdam!

I got to know Vinny during his efforts to name Route 33 after General Mac (how Vinny referered to him). Vinny was a true gentleman and real American hero. I am honored to have known him.
