Vi was my spiritual mother in the early 70s and a great friend for the rest of her life. When I last saw her she wasn't able to recognize me but we prayed together and her mantra even at that time in Nov was "nothing in my hands I bring, simply to thy cross I cling" and she made the sign of the nailed hands of Christ. RIP until the resurrection Vi. See you later, on the other side.

Dear Family of Viola,
I am sorry I was not able to be with you today for the funeral of Vi. As her former chaplain at Fulton, I had the privilege of many visits with her. She was a great encouragement for me. I appreciate very much her prayers for me and for those I love. God bless you with His comfort as you mourn her death. Surely this truth is hers: "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."

Vi became another grandmother to me when my family moved to Chile in 1991. I was 11 years old and very homesick. Vi would invite me and my little sister to her apartment every weekend to have tea and eat the goodies she made us and eventually taught us to make... zucchini bread, banana bread, scones... comforting smells of cinnamon wafting through that first cold winter will always stay with me.
She was a force in the expatriate community, full of love and conviction... she helped many...

Vi was an example of a Proverbs 31 woman. She was my mentor; she asked that I edit her book which I did with enthusiasm. Those were joyous years getting to know this Godly woman. She will be missed, but she has met Him face to face.....
