Mrs. Violet M. (Toms) Good, 92, a resident of Quincy Village, Quincy, PA and formerly of 219 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, PA, passed away at 9:15 A.M., Monday, January 17, 2011 in the nursing home. She had been in failing health for the past two years. Born October 25, 1918 in Rouzerville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wellington and Jettie B. (Stuckey) Toms. Mrs. Good attended Waynesboro schools. She and her husband, the late John W. Good, were married March 23, 1935. They moved to the South Broad Street address in 1939. He passed away August 2, 1997. Mrs. Good was a homemaker. In earlier years she was employed at J.C. Penney's, Merit's Shoe Store and Stanley Co., Chambersburg. She was a lifelong member of Otterbein Church, Waynesboro where she was a member of the Mixed Adults Sunday school class, served as a teacher in the primary department, was active with mission work and was a member of the Women's Missionary Society where she was a Past President. She also was a member of National AARP. Mrs. Good is survived by her son, John S. Good and his wife, Joyce of Waynesboro; a sister, Frances Koons, a resident of Hearthstone Retirement Home, Waynesboro; a brother, Wayne A. Toms of Scottsdale, AZ; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Emery L. Toms. Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, January 20, 2011 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with the Pastor John Mullen, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Thursday afternoon, in the funeral home.
