Virdinia "Dena" Ferdinandsen

Ferdinandsen, Virdinia "Dena" SARATOGA SPRINGS Virdinia "Dena" Ferdinandsen, 87, passed peacefully Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Wesley Care Center in Saratoga Springs, with family by her side. Virdinia Alma Ferdinandsen was born November 30, 1925 in Piggott, Ark. to Seby and Ira Allman. Dena met and married the love of her life, Marvin, in St. Louis, Mo., in 1945. Together they led a busy life raising four children and living in Utah, Wyoming, Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Texas. She spent the remaining years of her life near her family in Burnt Hills. During her lifetime Dena spent countless hours volunteering, her labor of love. Organizations that she served include Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Welcome Wagon, Veteran's Hospital, First Christian Church Woman's Club, Little League and the PTA in Erie, Pa. Also, she served with the Erie, Pa. Betsy Ross Chapter of Eastern Star for many years. She was preceded in death by her love, Marvin; her daughter, Jill; her parents, Seby and Ira Allman; sisters, Virginia and Louise and her brother, James. Dena is survived by her brothers, JC (Rose) Allman of Pensacola, Fla., Jewell Allman of St. Louis and Jerry (Anita) Allman, Piggott, Ark. She also leaves behind her children, Michael (Kathy) Ferdinandsen of West Sunbury, Pa., Jeanie (Bob) Thomas of Burnt Hills, Mark (Cynthia) Ferdinandsen of Haw River, N.C.; and her son-in-law, Bill Martin of Apple Valley, Calif.; along with eight grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Private services for Dena will be held in Houston, Texas, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
