Virgil Albert Obituary

Virgil Chester Albert 91, ascended to heaven to be with his Creator on May 19, 2014. He was born July 15, 1922 in Bryant, Oklahoma to Waddie and Bertha Albert. Virgil was preceded on his path by his beloved wife, Lelia. He was also preceded by his parents, son Craig; sisters, Lillian, Gladys, Nancy and Joanne. He is survived by his youngest sister, Susan "Babe" White; son, David and his granddaughters, Leandra Jo and Kiana Raquel Albert. Virgil was of Muscogee-Creek descent and a member of the Wind Clan within the Muscogee-Creek Nation. He was very proud of his Native American heritage. Virgil served his county admirably. A true warrior, he would serve through two wars via three branches of military service. During WWII he served with the United States Army Infantry. Upon honorable discharge he would continue his service with the United States Air Force. His service with USAF would see him from post WWII into the Vietnam War. After honorable discharge from the Air Force, he would continue through the Vietnam Conflict as a proud member of the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion. He continued his tenure with the "Fighting Sea Bees" all the way into his retirement stateside. Virgil later retired after years of dutiful service with the U.S. Post Office. Not wanting to slow down, he then performed security work with various agencies before settling on a stint with the Probational Court here in Tucson. Virgil was an outstanding and avid golfer. He turned down an opportunity to go professional as he wanted to spend more time at home. He could always be found playing various golf courses all throughout the area, and then some. Virgil was very well liked and respected wherever he went, and he really loved and was very proud of his granddaughters. As great as was his work ethic and sense of duty, his heart and sense of life are equally as great- if not greater. He was at once so very genuine and real, and will be greatly missed by all who have ever met or known this magnificent man. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., Service at 10:00 a.m. at FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL SOUTH LAWN, 5401 S. Park Ave., Tucson, AZ. A Celebration and remembrance of his life will follow the Funeral Services at VFW Post 549, 8424 E. Old Spanish Trail, Tucson, AZ.

"Mr. Albert," as we referred to him, held a very special place in the hearts of my family, particularly that of my youngest child. He held the position of security guard in our subdivision but he was so much more...a dear friend, a grandfather-substitute, a kind, gentle, strong presence. Many years have passed since those days together in Sin Vacas but his influence holds firm, as does our love for him. Your family's loss is great but I hope that you take some degree of comfort from the many lives "Mr. Albert" touched in such a wonderful way. His spirit life will continue to touch all of us.

So sorry for your lose,

It is always difficult to lose a loved one, especially one that defined integrity. That is what Virgil did! Therefore, I would like to leave you with the reassurance that he will not be forgotten. He has made a name (Eccl. 7:1) that God will not forget. Treasure him in memory and then rejoice in his ressurecttion.

I imagine the '19th hole in heaven' today, is full of laughter and cheer, with Virgil and and all the golf buddies who passed before him, rejoicing in being together once again.
Rest in Peace, Virgil, see you on the other side, Happy Trails!

Many blessings to your family Virgil. Your smile at the west probation office was always the highlight when we all arrived to work in the morning. Rest in peace and I hope you are hooping it up in heaven.
