Virgil E. Spooner, of Flint, age 83, died Friday, August 30, 2013 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Virgil was born in Arkansas on August 12, 1930. On September 9, 1950, he married Barbara Moore in Flint. Virgil
attended Riverside Tabernacle for many years. Virgil was a Christian and loved the Lord Jesus and is now with Him in Heaven. He enjoyed tennis and golf. Virgil loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Virgil was very generous with local charities, including Forgotten Man Ministries at the Genesee County Jail and the Riverside Tabernacle Food Bank. Those desiring may make contributions to either charity in honor of Virgil's memory. He was a successful business owner of Spooner Sales and Flint Wood Materials for over 50 years. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara; his son, Jeffrey and wife Rhonda of Metamora and their children, Rachel and husband Steve Pake, Samantha Spooner and fiance Brian Jackman and Casey Spooner; his
son, Steven of Flint; his son, Scott of Fenton and daughter-in-law, Julie Spooner of Davison and their children, Lindsey
and Luke Spooner; great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Eli Pake; twin sister, Vera and husband Les Croon of Burton and their daughter, Marsha; and
special brothers-in-law, Michael and wife Judy Trotter of Flint and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moore of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Your condolences may be shared with the family at

Miss my special Uncle Virgil every day. There has been so many times that I wish I could just sit and talk to you like we used too. You were always like my second Dad. Love and I will be so looking forward to seeing you some day. ❤❤

Virgil gave opportunities to anyone who wanted to better themself. I admired him in so many ways. He gave advise with years of experience and natural wisdom. You will be sorely missed and NEVER FORGOTTEN!

Sorry to hear of Virgil's passing. I worked for him for 7 years, he was a good man and a great boss. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I am still in shock of losing Uncle Virgil as I know Aunt Babara, Jeff, Steve, and Scott are. It is so hard to loss such a wonderful husband, father and special man to so many. I have such wonderful memories of him that I will cherish forever. I will remember all of the laughs and long talks that we shared. You are up in heaven now and you are do longer suffering. It was a joyous moment when you arrived in heaven and we will see you again when it is our time. So rest in peace my sweet Uncle...
