Virginia Burkhart

My fondest memory of Virginia was how determined she was for each student to do well. I stood outside her studio at American Conservatory one day waiting for a lunch with her, I could hear the repetition she was demanding of a student. Working well past the scheduled time she did not let that student leave until it was done right. I felt that was the way she lived her life.

I was deeply saddened to learn that Virginia has passed away. When I lived in Chicago in the 70s and 80s I was privileged to be able to take many years of advanced piano lessons from her. She was a superb pianist, both technically and musically, and a wonderful teacher. I learnt an enormous amount from her for which I am very grateful every time I sit down to play.

I just ran across your mom's obituary on Facebook. I am so sorry for your loss. When my Mom died, a friend told me that the best of our mothers live on in us. Love you,

I just came across this notice. I took piano lessons from Virginia when I was very young, in the early 1980s. She was such a lovely person, and wonderful teacher.

I remember Virginia as an active, enthusiastic member of Chicago Area Music Teachers Association. Her musical standards were the highest, and she held the respect of all the members. One of her goals was a happy retirement. I hope she achieved it.

May the God of all comfort be with you at this time of grief. May all fond memories of Virginia Burkhart stay close to your hearts.
