CARLSON, Virginia - Of Swartz Creek, age 89, died Sunday, January 13, 2019 at McLaren-Flint.


 


A memorial service will be held 2pm Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Chaplain Todd Gillert officiating.


 


Cremation has taken place. Private interment at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan will be at a later date.


 


Contributions may be made to Scholarship Fund, Viking Lodge #730, Vasa Order of America, 1426 Kennebec Road, Grand Blanc, MI 48439.


 


Visitation 2-4pm and 6-8pm Saturday and 12pm Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.


 


Virginia was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 23, 1929, the daughter of the late George and Bertha Berg. On May 3, 1952, she married Carl Carlson in Detroit. Virginia graduated from Imlay City High School and from Baker College where she earned a degree in interior design. Virginia was a member of Viking Lodge and Vasa Country Club. She was a loving wife and a dedicated mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


 


Surviving are husband, Carl;


 


sons, Curt Carlson, Kim (Nicole) Carlson, Duane (Carolyn) Carlson, and Clint (Patricia) Carlson;


 


grandchildren, Christopher Carlson, Cara (Steven) Kuester, Joshua (Amanda) Carlson, Steven Carlson, Laura Carlson, Denise Carlson, Madison Carlson, Skylar Carlson, Mitchell Carlson and Nicholas Carlson;


great-grandchildren, Olivia Kuester, Isaac Kuester, Luke Kuester, Charlotte Kuester, Caleb Carlson, and Callie Carlson;


 


niece, Julie (Bob) DeArmond Pomeroy, Elyse (Jeff) Allen;


 


nephew, Charles (Julie) DeArmond;


 


and sister-in-law, Beverly (James) Monroe.


 


She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Dawn; brother, Morris; sister, Marion; and nieces, Sandra and Sue.
