Virginia Cecilia Farris

Virginia "Ginny" Cecilia Farris, 88, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Methodist Medical Center. She was born December 24, 1921 in Dayton, OH, the daughter of Charles Bernerd Brinkman and Sudie Johnson Brinkman. Mrs. Farris retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems where she worked as a secretary at the Y-12 plant for 36 years. She was a member of Robertsville Baptist church. She enjoyed traveling and ceramics and was an avid reader, but her family was the most important element in her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Larry Gene McLain; 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jess Farris, Sr.; daughter, Sandy Cummins McLain of Jonesboro, GA; step-son, Ken Farris of Hoschton, GA; Granddaughters, Megan McLain of Jonesboro, GA, Michelle Morgan of Locust Grove, GA and Katie Perry of Buford, GA; 5 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 6 – 8pm at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral is Wednesday at 1pm at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Brian Scott and Dr. Michael Prince officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, 2pm at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association or to Robertsville Baptist Church.
