Virginia Alsup Flood

Virginia Alsup Flood September 23rd, 1916 - January 8th, 2009 Virginia Alsup Flood was embraced by a tender Lord on January 8th, 2009. She was born on September 23rd, 1916 in Galveston, Texas, the daughter of Hazel and Gideon Alsup. Virginia married George D. Flood, Jr. on June 10th in 1939. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, brother Cliff Alsup and wife Sybel; sister Patty Jean Jenkins and husband Bill; and son George D. Flood, III and survived by her daughter Sue Smith and son-in-law Jim of San Antonio; daughter Hannah Mary Putsche and son-in-law Philip of San Antonio; daughter-in-law Sharon Mazac Flood; grandson Jeff Smith and family of San Antonio; grandson Curt Howard Putsche, wife Robin and great-grandson son Ayden of Prosper; grandson Wade Calvert Smith, wife Angela and great-grandson Colton of Round Rock; granddaughter Dr. Jennifer Flood Eastin, husband David and great-grandson Grant of Frisco; grandson Brian Philip Putsche, wife Catherine and great grand-daughters Alison and Madeline of San Antonio; nephews Bob Jenkins and wife Nancy of Colorado; Bill Jenkins and wife Beverly of Houston; Bryce Alsup (Angel); and Niece Amy Macari and husband Mike of Austin. Virginia was also referred to as "Skippy." Her positive outlook on life, calming disposition, and the cadence of her distinctive laugh made her a favorite wherever she went. She was a gifted choir director for many years at Macarthur High School, and was adored by her students. In earlier years, she attended the Episcopal Church in Hallettsville, TX, but has more recently attended church with one of her daughters at First Baptist in San Antonio. The family will receive friends during a Visitation on Sunday, January 11th in the afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Home, 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, TX 78230. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 12th, 2009 at 12:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held immediately following the service at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. The family would like to honor and thank the staff at Village Oaks of Hollywood Park where Virginia lived for the past five years, and especially Velma Green who lovingly cared for her daily.
