Please accept my deepest condolences. Looking at this picture of Hilton with the APU nursing faculty at the pinning ceremony in Fairbanks, you can just see her passion and dedication. She truly was a visionary, and her advocacy for place-based, experiential learning has had such a profound impact. I, too, learned so much from Hilton, and the thought of her not being with us leaves a deep void. She will be sorely missed by so many.

What a lovely and spot-on obituary. Hilton was my RA during my first year at UVA, and I am happy to say that, contrary to other reports, she suffered us fools with kindness and patience! One of my favorite memories is coming back with the gang from a night of partying and finding that she had set up an ironing board in the common area - lined up on the ironing board were pairs of Tylenols next to paper cups filled with water (drinking was legal for 18 year olds back then).
