Virginia Hill

I took yoga from Virginia in the 70s. If it had not been for her I would never had started to practice. Thank you Virginia and rest in peace.

I took Virginia's yoga classes at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on East Speedway (the little church with the red door) in the mid 1970s. She was my first yoga teacher and was both a wonderful teacher and human being. I remember how impressed I was that she remembered everyone's name on the first evening of class. I have thought of her often over the years, always with fondness, as she was the finest yoga teacher I've had. I still do yoga regularly and will dedicate my practice to her...

I met Gina in Chile. I was working as a tourist guide for the firt time. She went to see Halley Comet. She encouraged me to become a better person. I never ever will forget her !

I took her classes after moving to Tucson in1988. I still chuckle when I recall the story about her having to crawl though the doggie door one day to get home! I used to visit her at her home and we would talk and laugh and eat. Or when we were in the mood we would do a movie and lunch out! A treasure!

What a remarkable woman. She was one of my faithful students at the UA Mini-Med school. She enhanced the learning experience of many others with her questions and desire to learn more about what and how she could improve her already healthy life.

Virginia taught yoga to my sister and husband in the 70's, and I was fortunate to have had her as a teacher when she was in her 80's. She stressed personal growth and taught us to do yoga safely - something that has only recently been addressed in today's popular yoga classes. I knew her as an intelligent, feisty, opinionated, and charming woman who loved plays, music, and her her very special dog Sir G.

Goodbye, Virginia, and thank you for giving so many people the gift of yoga. ...

Dear family,
Virginia was my yoga teacher in the late '70's when she held classes at the convent behind St. Joseph's Hospital. She was such a dear, sweet and caring person. Please accept my condolences.

My condolences to all the family. I well remember your Mother as a terrific Yoga teacher in the 1980's. My friend & I took her beginning class three times as we never felt confident in advancing, but surely enjoyed ourselves & learned a lot. I still do some of the positions she taught us to improve our health. I also remember her speaking of your Dad, Glenn, I believe, and I have a copy of a poem he wrote. He had a gallery in the Old Adobe plaza downtown where my grandmother ran Arizona...
