Virginia L. “Jinny” (Kindler) McLaughlin, 76, of North Attleboro, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a long and courageous health battle. She was the wife of the late Charles M. McLaughlin, Sr. who died in 2000.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 10, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Helen L. (Flaskamp) Kindler. She was raised and educated in St. Louis and was a graduate of Nerinx Hall High School and later attended and graduated from Maryville College in St. Louis, Missouri.
She resided on South Washington Street, North Attleboro, where she raised her seven children, for many years. Recently, prior to returning to North Attleboro, Mrs. McLaughlin resided at the Epoch Assisted Living Facility on Mansfield Avenue in Norton where she was an active member of the community. She was the founder and subsequent president of the Red Hat Society at Epoch and served as a member of the Resident Advisory Board of Directors at the residence.
Mrs. McLaughlin was employed at Texas Instruments in Attleboro for almost 20 years until becoming the office manager for her son, Dr. E. Kelly McLaughlin,
at his medical practice in Attleboro for 8 years prior to her retirement in 1995.
She was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church, Plainville.
An ardent bridge player, her skills allowed her to travel to compete in many competitive bridge tournaments.
She enjoyed reading and enjoyed the time spent playing bingo years ago at Bishop Feehan High School and local churches.
Her family will remember with love and fondness her love for her children and in later years, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She leaves six children: Maureen K. Paquette of North Attleboro; Charles M. “Marty” McLaughlin, Jr. of Santa Barbara, California; Andrew M. McLaughlin of Spindale, North Carolina, formerly of Attleboro; Dr. E. Kelly McLaughlin of North Attleboro; Amy E. McLaughlin-Hatch of Plainville and Casey S. McLaughlin of Nashville, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was the beloved mother of the late Jena M. McLaughlin-Giles who died in December 1974.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 from 4:00- 8:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
Children’s room available during visitation.
Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation.
Relatives and friends and cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Martha’s Church, 227 South Street, Plainville with the Rev. John Walsh, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be private.
