Virginia Michalski, 99, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014.

She was born July 11, 1914 in Chicago to Martin and Julia Dybalski. Virginia was married to Frank Michalski until his passing in 1969. From 1941 until 1975, Virginia and Frank were the owners of the Bridgeport Bakery in Chicago and upon Frank?s passing Virginia became the sole proprietor of the business. During her retirement, she helped raise her grandchildren and was a clerk for the Cadieux Bakery in Barrington. Virginia was known for her warmth and kindness, always putting others first before herself. She was loving and generous to others in need. Virginia was a hard worker, devoted to her family, and a diehard Cubs fan. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.

Virginia was a loving mother to Merrilee (William) Wise, and Edward (Pauline) Michalski; cherished grandmother to Scott Ariel, Kyle Ariel, John Mason, Virginia ?Ginny? (Matt) Voelker, and Lynn (Mike) Thomer; a much anticipated great-grandmother to recently born, Lily Voelker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frank, Virginia was preceded in death by her siblings, Florence Wasielewski, Martin Dybalski, Edward Debalski, Frank Blazo, and John Blazo.

Visitation and viewing will be held Sunday, Feb 9 from 12pm until 6pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake. Mass will be held Monday, February 10, with visitation from 10 am until the time of Mass at 11 am at St. Barbara?s Church, 2859 S Throop St., Chicago, IL 60608. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her name may be made to either the JourneyCare Hospice Foundation, 405 Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington, IL 60010 or to the Activities Department at Crystal Pines Rehabilitation and Healthcare, 335 N Illinois St, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.

I am so blessed to have had her as a Great-Great Aunt and she was there for my Grandma Shirley and Grandma Debalski...And I am thankful for inheriting her beautiful lt. green eyes I will forever have of her.

Our family has been saddened by the loss of Virginia. She was the type of person that put others needs first, didn't complain, and had a positive outlook no matter what cards had been dealt. I would like to thank everyone for their kind words. God Bless.

Thank you Aunt Virg for all the good memories I have of you. One thing was for certain, when around Aunt Virg you could always count on kindness and some good food to eat. You were loved by our family very much and will always be in our hearts !

Aunt Virg was a delight! I loved going to visit her! The food she served was fabulous, her company was fun and she was a great conversationalist! Her memory will live on for a long time with us! I am so grateful for all the great memories of fun with her!
