Not sure what to say?

I was a student in Madame Wilcoxson's French class in my junior and senior years at Crawford High. I became a lifelong francophile and use many of the expressions she taught me on a daily basis. I used one the other day - avoir les hoquets - and thought immediately of her. She used to say, "Ce n'est pas OK d'avoir les hoquets." So true! I will never forget her!

She was my French teacher at Crawford in early 60's.I remember her with a smile for the help she gave me with a language I still love.

I am eternally grateful for having had Mrs. Wilcoxson as my second year Spanish teacher during my sophomore year at Crawford High School in 1962-1963. She gave me the confidence and skills I needed. She introduced me to new worlds. She really cared for her students.

Mrs. Wilcoxson was my French teacher at Crawford in the late from 1959-1962. I still have a mimeographed copy of the "petite causeries", Sister Sourire's songs, and my Cassell's French Dictionary. The very first thing she told us was that we were not allowed to speak anything other than French in the classroom - it was first-year French! After the deafening silence and then some agitated muttering she taught us how to say "est-ce-que je puis parler en Anglais?" What a great lady - she has...

Though I had four years of French in high school and college, the year with Madame Wilcoxson at Crawford in 196-62 was, without question, the most valuable. She was so kind, though demanding. There were high expectations but an equal amount of support. What a role model for teachers.

This was just a beautiful salute to your mom's life of accomplishments. Thank you for sharing her with us all. My hugs and warm thoughts are with you all.

We were neighbors for many years in Canyonwoods San Diego. It was always a pleasure to see the Wilcoxsons, and when visitors were there from Germany Mrs. Virginia always spoke German to them. We were priviledged to know her. Witlh love to the family george and Katharina Farrand

I was Madame Wilcoxson's French student for my 3rd through 5th years of French at Crawford High School. While I ultimately majored in the biological sciences, she was one of my most admired teachers. She was kind and an excellent teacher. I feel I not only became fluent in French, but came to appreciate French literature and culture because of her. She had high expectations but made everyday in French fun and exciting. I never realized what a full life she had outside of the classroom as...

Not only did I attend and graduate from Crawford High....Mrs. Wilcoxson and my late father were both graduated San Diego High, class of 1932, I too was born at the 'old' Mercy Hospital. May her memory serve as a blessing.
