Not sure what to say?

Mr. Surian taught English at Great Lakes Jr College while I was a student there (I had him for two terms). He was passionate about teaching, passionate about the English language, and passionate about handball as I recall. I remember Mr. Surian fondly. He was one of my favorite teachers.

RIP Mr. Syrian. A favorite teacher at BVHS. Not only did he teach English and latin, but also respect for self and others. I enjoyed meeting you in the community from time to time, and he always remembered my name. You will be missed.

Uncle Vito, where do I start. I loved giving him a hard time. Especially about his cooking and sausage making. He'd swear at me and it just made me smile. I would tell Aunt Susie and Mom, picking on Uncle Vito was like taking candy from a baby. He'd cringe and swear when he heard athletes doing interviews whose grammar was bad.

The last time I saw Uncle Vito was at Mom's 85th. He walked in took one look at me and shook his head. But with a big smile. I love you Uncle Vito...

I remember Vito taking Good Golly Miss Molly for walks. I enjoyed talking with him when we crossed paths. He could tell a good story. I particularly remember the one about the fishing license and the conservation officer. He made me laugh! He was also an excellent lector at church. My condolences to Vito's family, especially Suzy and Janice.

To Sue and family, Sorry to read of Vito's death. Perhaps he and Mel can fish together in that big lake in the sky.

Wishing Vito's family comfort in the love and concern so many of us had for him.

Mr. Surian taught in several locations, but came into his own as Assistant Principal at Ricker Junior High School in the 1960's. He enforced the school rules with a vigorous strictness, to the terror of all of us rambunctious, disobedient students. He had an unforgettable impact on our lives forever. A life well-lived, may he rest in peace.

Mr. Vito Surian was an excellent teacher. He taught us to think for ourselves and to question things. He was our Class Advisor when he was at Buena Vista High School. May God be with his family at this time. Truly a wonderful man.
