Not sure what to say?

VL was a positive influence on my life. I will miss him.

I thought of you today. You and Pat Ryan was more of an influence than anyone..sorry I'm so late.

Janie, Deannie, Chris and Family, I am sorry to hear of Dr. Holland's passing. He and Dr. Keil taught me Field Botany in 1999, and it was one of the best and most influential courses of my student life. Dr. Holland was not only a great, passionate teacher, but also a warm and humorous person. I'll never forget our field trips, for example, conversations around the campfire at Quaking Aspen in the Sierra. I'll continue to do my best promoting the oaks of the Santa Monica Mountains & Simi...

I don't know how I can express the many ways in which VL as a colleague, companion, and friend had a lasting influence on me and my career. His outgoing enthusiasm for life, family, friends, students, and acquaintences was an example to me. His support for my family, my research, my teaching, and my personal life helped me through a lot of ups and downs. We shared a lot of memorable field adventures. I greatly miss him.

Dear Janie and family, My heart goes out to all of you. May your love for VL give you all strength to carry on.

VL was so kind to me when I worked at Poly in the 80's, He was an honorable man.

Vl was a wonderful friend and mentor. I enjoyed trading science instruction stratagems and talking Cal Poly sports with him. He will be greatly missed. I offer my deepest condolences to his wonderful family.

I am so sad to hear about VL. Sending love and hugs to all.

Janie and family, so sorry for your loss our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of need. Marilyn, Matt and Todd Sumpter
