Not sure what to say?

Volodya was a fabulous teacher, with great knowledge and wonderful sense of humor. He introduced me to the Russian bards, & I am still listening to them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Vladimir's encouragement and his high expectations were very important for me as a transfer student in the early 1970s. I remember him fondly and with gratitude.

People live forever in the memories we keep.

Rarely have I met someone so wise, thoughtful, and genuinely caring as Vladimir Vladimirovich Gross. He was a wonderful teacher and human being, and kind to all; but I was privileged to have him call me friend. I hope I did justice to that great honor. Even in the last year of his life he found time to spend with me--and those memories are among my most profound recollections of him. God bless and keep you until we meet again, Vova!

A mischievous smile, a spark in his eye, an infectious laugh,to never be ashamed of tears or flowers,a samurai movie marathon,Crooked bamboo and purple bell flowers, lifesaving kayak paddling tips, a UFO amoung the Eastern Washington stars, that one can learn to fly after "retiring", that coffee boiled on a wood stove can be better than starbucks, generosity to spare, these things and more are what I will always remember about shared times with Volodya and Sveta. Although a piece of me has...

Your generous spirit and strength of character will not be forgotten. Thank you for believing in me.

Go with God, Volodya

Last summer Volodya, Joyce, John, and I were sitting on Volodya and Joyce’s deck, enjoying coffee and talking about the birds in their yard. When Volodya learned that we no longer had a peanut-butter feeder for the birds, he jumped up, went to his always well-stocked shop, and made one for us on the spot!

I’ll remember 30 years of good times, filled with discussions of the Russian language & culture, the world situation, and Joyce & Volodya’s latest adventures in Twisp. I’ll...

Volodya was a dedicated and inspiring teacher - and so passionate about the things he loved. He always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. What I'll remember most is the tremendous warmth of his character and his indomitable love of life. I will miss him greatly.
