Not sure what to say?

Sending my sincere condolences to you Mrs. Harkness, and Andrea and Cindy. I was so sad to come across the news of VO's passing. I am sure my parents and he are enjoying some laughs and a few drinks in heaven, and maybe even talking about their latest antique treasures. Sending much love to all of you.

Remember going after a Soviet Foxtrot with Captain Harkness. Such fun! Fair winds, sir.

Fair Winds and Following Seas Captain.
Thanks for caring.

I was a junior officer aboard the USS Springfield when Capt. Harkness assumed command. He was supportive in "coaching up" junior officers to enable them to take on more responsibility. He was a pleasure to serve under. RIP Skipper!

You will be missed my friend. Gregory your barber.

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), I offer our sincere condolences on Vinton's passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. We are forever grateful for V.O.'s service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. To our Brother of the Phin we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country."
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you...

We have the greatest respect for you, V.O., and affection for you and your wonderful Jackie and for the altogether loving couple you were. We loved the time we spent with you in Maine where you and Lola often walked on Fernald's Neck and were always available for a short conversation and a humorous exchange with Jackie explaining the origin and meaning of V.O. Being the wife of a submariner could not have been easy and yet the mutual respect and affection you had for each other was palpable....

Andrea, Cindy am sorry for your loss
