Not sure what to say?

Our sympathies to the family of Rabbi Gunther Plaut, our distant relative. Our Father, Alfred Plaut, communicated with and provided information to the Rabbi's wife, Elizabeth, when she was working on her monumental Plaut family tree. When our son went to graduate school at the University of Minnesota in the early 1990s, he attended services at the Temple in Saint Paul, and was asked about his connection with the Rabbbi.

I became an aware Jew at age 40, largely because of the Torah commentary of Gunther Plaut. It was, and he was, a continuing source of inspiration.

Thank you Dr. Plaut.

My sympathies to your family. In the early 60s Rabbi Plaut came into my confirmation class at Mt. Zion in St. Paul, and explained to us that as time passed, people we cared about would die, and to remember the good things about tem. Over the years this message has been a consolation to me as friends and family have passed on.
