W. Frederic Birner, M.D, 88, passed away August 6, 2016. Born March 28, 1928, in Keil, Germany. He grew up in Ingelheim, Germany and immigrated to the United States at the age of 18. Graduate of University of Kansas Undergraduate School and University of Kansas Medical School. Internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla. and University of Chicago Lying in Residency. Frederic served in the U.S. Air Force at Langley AFB and arrived in Pueblo in 1963. Preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Max and Olga Birner. Survived by wife of 60 years, Marjorie A. Birner; children, Fred Birner and Sonja Schrock, Dr. Mark Birner and Amy, Julie and Dr. Lawrence Anaya; grandchildren, Audrey and Lauren Birner, Jorie and Alex Anaya, Sophia, Maximilian and Amelia Birner. Fred loved his OB/GYN practice and all the lives he brought into the world. He also loved to travel. Thank you to Frontier Hospice for all their wonderful help and support; especially, Andrea, Karen and Liz. Also, thank you to Daniel, his caretaker. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Private services will be held at Ascension Episcopal Church with the Rev. Christy Shaine-Hendricks officiating. A celebration of his life will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Pueblo Country Club, 3200 Eight Ave. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Sangre de Cristo Arts Center or Ascension Episcopal Church through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Mrs. Birner & Family: My thoughts are with you. I have thought of your family over the years. You were so kind to me when I babysat for your children. I don't know if you remember me. I'm Myrtis Johnson's sister and we lived on Withers when I was your babysitter. I lived in Destin, FL for many years, but now live in Pueblo.

Marjori and Family. It saddens me to be writing my condolences.Fred and I met at Toledo University. We were fraternity Brothers. There were 3 of us(Paul,Fred and Myself} that traveled the States, dated and enjoyed the stages of life. The Air Force, Navy and Army separated us for a time and occupations created distant paths but we kept in contact and watched our familys grow. Paul passed before Fred. Now I have fond memories and hope to keep in touch. May time heal the hurts of separation.
