I moved to Fredericksburg (from Richmond) in 1964. I briefly met Malone one night and he welcomed me to this quaint city. The next morning he called me and asked if I wanted a tour of the town and surrounding area. Of course, I was anxious to meet people and learn what I could about the area. Malone was a great friend with whom I had great admiration. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Schooler family during this difficult time.

You have my heartfelt sympathy in your loss of Malone. I went to James Monroe H.S. with Malone and he was always a really great friend of mine. I was working at SDI and enjoyed working with him in the construction of his shopping centers.

It was an honor to know Malone. Even though I hardly knew him at the time, he was kind enough to return my call when I had a question that I knew he could answer. I later got to know him better and he always had a warm welcome when I saw him at the golf course. Thank you for setting an example for us all. Rest in peace and enjoy the company of old friends- both the two legged and four legged friends.
