Walter was a jovial and active member of the Masonic fraternity until the very end of his days. He "owned" a particular role in the customary portrayal given in a Master Mason's degree ceremony, that of the "Sea Faring Man." He gave his last performance in that role at the age of 95.
He epitomized the object that all Masons aspire to, which is to "live respected and die regretted." All his Brothers wish him a fond farewell.
