Not sure what to say?

Uncle Walt touched the lives of his "many nieces and nephews" and if I may add his grandnieces and nephews. He was a gentle and humble person.

When we were kids (and that was quite awhile ago!) we would have a "competition" as to whose Christmas tree was the best decorated. Uncle Walt's tree was always a smaller tree, since he was a bachelor and didn't have a bunch of kids in the house to help him decorate. Well, he would always come over after we decorated ours and admire our...

In the late 40s

Walt and I made a boat trip in his Lightning Class sailboat. We left Trenton and sailed down the Delaware River to the big bay that joins the Atlantic ocean. Staying close to the Jersey shore, we entered the inland waterway and sailed clear up to the Seaside heights area. At one outlet to the sea we sailed, paddled and used the "kicker" to get passed the place or get swept out to sea.It was a great trip. Walt just loved it and me too.

Uncle Walt,
I'm so glad I got to spend some time talking with you at my Dad's 80th birthday party. It was you and Uncle Larry that got me hooked on sailing, thanks for all the weekends on Barnegat Bay and all the sailing lessons. I put them to good use sailing off Coronado is San Diego, CA. You also gave me a few archery lessons in my back yard. I could not even string your bow and you were rock steady pulling it back and able to hold it for so long. It had to be 60-70lbs. Thanks again...

My condolences to all the Berger Family. We will be remembering Uncle Walt and you in our prayers.
I always enjoyed it when Uncle Walt would come out and visit us in North Idaho. The last time was in 1993 when he came out with Aunt Rita. I was living in Bayview, ID at the time. Uncle Walt was thrilled to see 4 deer in my yard eating the grass. It was a particularly cool summer that year, and the temps didn't get much above 60 degrees (it was the beginning of August). I told them sorry...

Dear Uncle Walt:
We will miss you and your quiet ways. We love you. We wish you smooth sailing along the peaceful shores of Heaven. God Bless You forever.
Love, your first nephew,
