Nancy, my sincere condolences...it was a distinct highlight of my day when Walter was on my schedule and an honor to take care of his ankle. I always cherished the non-medical discussions we had at each visit... Sincerely, Jack Schuberth

Walt Berger was my brother and a very special person. And he always made me laugh. As children, he kept things "hopping"--whether it was 27 snakes in the milkbox or hampsters running over my mother's feet as she took the clothes out of the washer. And he could never tear himself away from a "pond." We will miss his good humor and fun personality.

I've been Walt's neighbor since we moved onto CC 22 years ago and the Bergers were welcoming from the start. Walt always greeted you with quick story, a funny line, or a question (leading to a quick story and/or funny line). You always walked away from him smiling. And he was able to talk to everyone, even some of the tougher nuts to crack in the neighborhood. He was the Mayor of CC and our neighborhood will never be the same without him. Rest easy, Walt. And may God bless Nancy and the family.

Walt was one of a group of Garden City High School 1956 classmates who used to get together once a year in SF to celebrate old times. Now, slowly, they are passing on and are missed. Our condolences to Nancy and the family and the dogs he loved so much. We will remember him with smiles and thanksgiving. NancyW

My husband and I were next door neighbors for 25 years and always shared a laugh and loved Walt´s story telling. God bless you Walt. You are missed.

I loved my Uncle Walt. Always fun and full of stories. He chose his life, his loves, and his time very carefully.
