My beloved Walter, I shall cherish the laughter and love filled times we shared. You played so many roles in my life, I cannot think of you as gone, for you are ensconced in my mind and heart. My friend/mentor and counselor, I dare not say goodbye. Instead I shall say sweet dreams for we spoke of eternal life and agreed that life is eternal. So, farewell, until...

Walter will be missed - what a delightful, thoughtful gentleman. I cannot attend his memorial but I will raise a toast in his honor and in memory of many happy times working together. Sympathy to his family - may his memory be a blessing

Walter and I were neighbors as children, in West Woodlawn. We remained friends ever since. His Mother, Aunt, and Uncle were like my own relatives, and they knew my family just as well.

After his family left our West Woodlawn neighborhood to move to Bronzeville, we bought tropical fish, frogs, turtles, and other pets at the Woolworth's Five and Dime store near his new home.

We always rehashed funny stories from our childhood over and over. I don't recall ever arguing with him....
