Not sure what to say?

Thank you for your beautiful paintings of Findlay, Ohio

My art teacher. An experience I was extraordinarily blessed to have at a very young age. He made an exception for me, because he almost never taught teenagers. And thanks to him, I became a much better artist. Thank you Mom and Thank you Dad. Mr. Chapman, you will forever be in my heart. R.I.P.

Though Mr. Chapman passed away 4 years ago, we still think of him, as he was one of brother's art teacher. Kelvin Myers enjoyed doing artwork very much, but sadly he died in 1974, far too soon. We do have a painting of Jean, that her husband did of her in watercolors during an art show in Sylvania.

Growing up in Sylvania, Ohio, I was introduced to Walter Chapman's work by my mother, Beth Curl, who was a docent at the Toledo Museum of Art. She & my father, Joe Curl, purchased several of his watercolor paintings of rural Ohio, one of which I inherited. I have since become a watercolor painter and teacher here in Palo Alto, California where I now live. I was last back in Sylvania, Ohio during the summer of 2011 while attending my 40th Sylvania High School reunion, (Class of 1971). While in...

Taking portraiture classes with Mr. Chapman was one of my fondest memories. He helped me become the artist I am today. I will never forget his kindness, his talent and the world is a colder place now that he is gone.

I was blessed to have the opportunity to be one of his students, and with his skill and guidance as a teacher, he helped me attain my artistic zenith. I will never forget him and that precious gift he gave me. RIP Mr. Chapman.

I offer my sincere sympathy to the family of Walter Chapman. They will not grieve alone; a man of his stature will be missed by the entire community. Because he was among the most accomplished artists of his generation, his passing seems like the end of an era.

Walter will be dearly missed...his wit, humor and charm. His talent and wisdom. I learned so much from Walter, not just painting. But to live your life to the fullest, to find the beauty in the shadows dancing on a delapidated old barn. His drive and passion for art amazed and inspired me. I once asked Walter, "how do you keep that fire going Walter, the desire to paint every day?". I was asking because I was beginning to lose the drive and passion I once had. Walter made one simple...

Add to his obit that he was an excellent bridge player in our group in Bloomdale, Ohio. It was fun to playwith you.
