Not sure what to say?

We absolutely loved having Walter preach in our church, Deer Isle Sunset Congregational Church in Deer Isle. As one parishioner said, "It was like listening to God speak." He was so prepared and enjoyed working with the technology, totally unphased with it. His sermons were full of references to his readings, research, people he had known and respected, colleagues and his own personal love of God and his commitment to spread the message of love, peace and justice every time he preached....

I was so surprised at the passing of Walter! He was one of my daddy´s best friends. He married me to my first husband and he married my brother to his first wife too. He stayed at our house whoever he came to Athens, Ga. I loved him like a father!! Please know his family will be in my prayers!!!

Our family fondly remembers the time Dr. Cook, though he was always Mr. Cook to us, served at Rock Spring Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. He ministered to us in many ways and we were always appreciative of his care, compassion and wit. His gift of song and singing blessed us in many ways.

Our hearts go out to all of you. He was such a kind and gentle man. All of the Lawsons treasure our memories of his joy, laughter and beautiful spirit. He goes with God. Much love, Sheila, Pope and family

To: Jan, Maggie, Annette, Randy & John We will miss Walter's warmth and humor. We send our condolences as well as many fond memories. The Dreyfoos Family Bill, Dale & Jeanne

Walter was the pastor at central Presbyterian church in Athens ga for ten years , he married me and my late wife Diana Brooks guest as well as baptized my oldest son. He helped me just by his presence at the hospital when my father died and I was only 20 years old. He was a close friend and the best pulpit minister the church ever had . He preached at central last at our 100th anniversary and was as good then as in 1973. God speed Walter cook good and faithful servant
